The £3million needed to enable the redevelopment, coupled with the ongoing cost of keeping the Hospice constantly operating, makes fundraising a crucial part of the organization. Around £700,000 a year is needed to meet the running costs of Les Bourgs.
The Hospice is fortunate to have a large support base and regular events such as the Rocque to Rock cycle ride organized by the Friends of Les Bourgs, headed by Jack Honeybill. In addition, a new fundraising group has been created to boost proceeds for the rebuild project. This is led by Kay Leslie.
Events so far have included a Final Hour Appeal, Hospice Markets, Reservoir Ramble and afternoon tea, summer market, bingo night, grand quiz, lunch and fashion show. The Hospice is always delighted to hear from anyone who has ideas on potential events or fundraisers and is particularly keen to be considered as the Charity of the Year for corporate supporters or businesses.
The £3m. needed for the Hospice to redevelop will be made up of £1 million from public support and £2 million from local businesses. We would be delighted to help to organize events or supply ideas and volunteers.
