What is the event?

Love running or maybe you would but just don't know where to start? Either way this event is for you! We want to help you set yourself a challenge that you can achieve within 30days so whether that means you start off walking a bit to build up to 30 minute runs or can easily clock that from day one the event is open to all abilities.

We are very grateful to Appleby for their continued support of the 30runsin30days event www.applebyglobal.com and who will also be hosting a closing event at Christies on 30th October after a final group run from North Beach in Town.

We are very lucky to have the support of the brilliant teams at New Waves and Try-a-Tri/Strive who are providing a resource of coaching experience so whether you are a beginner who can barely run for 5 minutes or someone who can already run 30 minutes there will hopefully be something for everyone. See below......

TRY A TRI GUERNSEY - FREE Pop-up lunch-time 30runsin30days warm-ups
We are conscious that for a lot of you will be the best time to fit your run in will be during your lunchbreak from work but having been sat down at a desk all day those muscles will need engaging and warming up to get the best out of them and to avoid injury! The lovely people at Try A Tri will be hosting some pop-up lunchtime warm-up sessions at North Beach throughout October to take people through a proper dynamic stretching routine before you go off on your run.

Every Wednesday at 12.30pm, meet at the Petanque playing area, just turn up and look for the Try A Tri t-shirts!

If you are new to running or haven’t donned your trainers for a while New Waves have kindly put together an exclusive 'Beginners 30 Day Plan' adapted especially for this event from the very successful Walk to Run programme. The 30 day programme will run parallel with the event from 1-30 October and will provide you with a carefully put together training plan, videos to guide you through warm-up exercises, stretches and technique and tips on nutrition, habits and mind-set. Lou and her team will also provide regular support within the private Facebook group to keep you motivated through the duration of the event. We hope that with the support of professional coaches and a target to aspire to we can help you achieve a fitness goal that will be a positive start to making a sustainable change to your lifestyle.

Cost is £55pp (which works out as £1.83 per day!) with a very generous donation of 20% of each sign-up fee going to the Hospice (open to everyone).

STRIVE - 9.30am Thursday morning run sessions
The Strive coaches will make sure you are warmed up and ready to run with these morning sessions. Starting with a series of exercises to activate your key running muscles the group then completes a 30 min run interval session. Suitable for intermediate runners and those coming back to running after a long break. Location - Sausmarez Park and Athletics Track

STRIVE - 6.30pm Monday Evening sessions
Start your week with good running technique and motivation with the Strive team taking you through different run drills and then an interval session to build your fitness. With the sessions being based on time rather than distance these sessions are suitable for mixed abilities. Location - Athletics Track or TBC each week.

Both sessions cost: £5/session (50% off usual drop in price of £10)

TRY A TRI GUERNSEY - FREE Sunday Social runs
Hosted by the brilliant Try A Tri team these FREE Sunday morning (9.00am) sessions get people together to run, jog or walk for 20 minutes out then 20 minutes back. This social run is suitable for all abilities and ends with a well-earned coffee at a local kiosk! All you need to do is turn up! No sign up necessary.

NEW WAVES - Women only “Now we Run” sessions
If you would like to improve your running fitness, technique, stamina, pace and endurance within a friendly and welcoming group New Waves’ 12 week block of “Now We Run Sessions” starts 19th September (bookings close on 3rd Oct), so you could kick-start a new regime ahead of the event and tick off some of your October runs with new friends!

NEW WAVES - Yoga for Runners
The team at New Waves will be starting the next 10 week course of tailored Yoga sessions for runners on Sunday 13th October which could be a great way of getting some stretching in to stay injury-free!

TRY A TRI - Coastal Challenge Series 2019-2020
Why not use the 30runsin30days event to build up to this Try A Tri series of off-road coastal runs. Held between 24th November and 23rd February and each one having a two routes (one longer option and one less challenging) it is a fun and social way to keep up your running throughout the Winter.

Cost: £50 to sign up to the full series

PARKRUN – FREE weekly 5km timed run
Whatever your pace it is just you against the clock but with lots of other keen runners!
It is organised entirely by volunteers every Saturday at 9am, Pembroke Bay. If you are running for the first time you will need to register (but you only need to do this once. If you have run before don’t forget your barcode. For more information visit www.parkrun.org.uk/guernsey
