Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance - postponed

**Due to lockdown restrictions we are sorry to say that the Service has been postponed until further notice. The Service will be rescheduled for a later date but the Directors and staff would like to invite all islanders to light a candle in their homes at 5pm on Sunday 31^st January 2021 to either remember a loved one or take a moment of personal reflection **

 

The New Year heralds a significant milestone for Les Bourgs Hospice as the 30^th anniversary of the opening of Andrew Mitchell House will be celebrated. Greville Mitchell OBE and his wife Lisa Mitchell had recognised the need for a Hospice on the island to provide compassionate, specialist care to any resident of the Bailiwick suffering from a life-limiting illness as well as support for their loved ones. In 1991, their vision became a reality which continues to provide free in-patient, respite and day care today.

As the Hospice is independent it relies on the generous support of the public to help meet its substantial running costs of approximately £1.6 million per annum. In recognition of this support and the significant role that the Community has played in the success of the Hospice over the years, the celebrations will be launched with a Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance at the Town Church (revised date to be confirmed).

All members of our Island Community are invited to attend this Service and be joined in celebration by the Town Church choir, the Salvation Army band and the Cheshire Dramatic Arts Centre. There will also be a lighting of candles throughout the congregation to commemorate the 30th birthday and the church’s season of Candlemas.

Tickets will not be required for the Service and there will be no reserved seating.
