Mark Prevel 1000 miles in a month - Talk and Q&A

A born and bred Guernsey man, Mark Prevel has battled with lung, and other health conditions, throughout his life.  In 1993 he was diagnosed with chronic emphysema and told he may only have around 18 months to live.

For the next two years he travelled back and forth to Southampton for scans and tests before being referred to Papworth Hospital. After being approved for a lung transplant, he was offered a revolutionary new lung operation – a ‘bullectomy’ – and, despite a few early complications, he’s lived a near-normal life ever since.

Mark has no doubt that the physical and nutritional switches he made during the pandemic transformed his life and have already helped him achieve several running and walking challenges.

In June he took on the epic challenge of walk-running 1000 miles within 28 days raising money for Les Bourgs Hospice and succeeded in not only completing the challenge but also exceeding the present world record.

Mark’s decision to support the Hospice came when he learnt Les Bourgs receives no States funding – yet remains available to everyone who needs it. It was also a celebration of 30 years since his treatment at Papworth Hospital and the 35th anniversary of Les Bourgs Hospice.

Join us for this unique opportunity to hear about Mark's story and have the chance to get your questions to him.
