Catherine Best "Hope Pendant" for compassionate care

Catherine Best, renowned jewellery designer, is proud to announce the donation of a framed Silver Hope Pendant and chain to Les Bourgs Hospice in Guernsey. This meaningful gift, part of her Gift of Hope initiative launched in March, honours the hospice's unwavering support for patients facing lifelimiting illnesses, as well as supporting their families.

The pendant, accompanied by heartfelt words, will be permanently displayed within the hospice to offer comfort, strength and a lasting reminder of hope to all who pass through its doors. 

The Gift of Hope Initiative invited nominations from across the community, the Catherine Best team were overwhelmed to receive over 500 touching stories of resilience, kindness, and courage. Thirty one recipients were selected to receive this special pendant. Among them was Les Bourgs Hospice, chosen for the exceptional compassion and dedication shown by its team of nurses, doctors, carers and volunteers.

Their nomination spoke volumes:
“For the holistic support tailored to each patient and their loved ones, Les Bourgs Hospice demonstrates unwavering compassion and dedication. By framing this beautiful piece of jewellery, it will serve as a lasting symbol of hope visible to all who walk through our doors.”

Catherine Best reflected on the inspiration behind the design: “After being diagnosed with cancer and beginning chemotherapy, I have been deeply moved by the
kindness and support I’ve received. I originally designed the Hope Pendant during the COVID-19 pandemic, inspired by the lotus flower, a symbol of strength, resilience and renewal. It has become a source of inner strength for me and I am proud to pass it on to others facing their own challenges.”
