Les Bourgs Hospice is delighted to announce the appointment of former Deputy Heidi Soulsby MBE to its Board of Directors. With over a decade of distinguished public service in Guernsey, including leadership roles in health and social care, Heidi brings a wealth of experience, insight, and compassion to the Hospice at a time of growing demand for its services.

During her 13 years as Deputy in the States of Guernsey, Heidi held key positions including Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, President of the Committee for Health & Social Care, and Vice President of the Policy & Resources Committee. Her tenure was marked by a commitment to evidence-based decision-making, collaborative leadership, and a deep understanding of the health and social care landscape in the Bailiwick.

During her time as President, the Committee for Health & Social Care developed the “Partnership of Purpose”, a transformative framework for integrated health and care. This initiative focused on collaboration with third parties, including the third sector, to deliver joined-up, person-centred services that placed users at the heart of care.

Jurat Stephen Jones OBE, the Chair of Les Bourgs Hospice, welcomed Heidi’s appointment, saying:  “We are thrilled to have Heidi join our Board. Her strategic acumen, deep understanding of health policy, and unwavering commitment to community wellbeing make her an ideal fit for Les Bourgs Hospice. As we face increasing complexity in patient needs and an ageing population, Heidi’s experience will be invaluable in helping us shape the future of hospice care in Guernsey.”

Talking about her enthusiasm for the new role, Heidi Soulsby said:  “Les Bourgs Hospice holds a special place in the hearts of so many islanders. I’ve long admired the compassionate, holistic care it provides to patients and their families. After stepping back from politics, I wanted to continue making a meaningful contribution to our community. Joining the Board feels like a natural step, and I’m honoured to support the Hospice’s mission during this critical time.”

Les Bourgs Hospice continues to provide specialist palliative care, free of charge to all Bailiwick residents, relying on the generosity of the community and the dedication of its staff and volunteers. Heidi’s appointment reflects the Hospice’s commitment to strong governance and strategic leadership as it navigates future challenges.
